It’s been rumored for a while now that box office kingpin James Cameron has wanted back in on the Alien and Terminator franchises, if only so he can turn those brands – which have been tainted by unsuccessful sequels and spin-offs in recent times – around.
On Terminator, Cameron is believed to be toying with writing a new movie in the long-running series (likely without Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 as the lead) but per Games Radar, there’s a catch.
The eagle-eyed news crew at the site noticed a tweet from someone attending Dell Tech World who confirmed he’s waiting to see A.I shakes out before progressing on the screenplay.
So James Cameron just told the #DellTechWorld crowd that he started writing a new Terminator movie 3 months ago but wants to see how #AI shakes out before he goes any further 👀😳🎥 pic.twitter.com/wNqmLNmyVP

That’s a little scary.
Last year, the Avatar director told the SmartLess podcast: “If I were to do another Terminator film and maybe try to launch that franchise again, which is in discussion, but nothing has been decided, I would make it much more about the AI side of it than bad robots gone crazy.”
