Tati Gabrielle, seen recently in Netflix’s You, is in final talks to take on the guise of video game fighter Jade in the sequel to New Line’s latest Mortal Kombat.
Simon McQuoid, who directed the original film, helms this one too. Unlike the first, which was released to streaming and theaters day-and-date, this one won’t premiere on Max until after the exclusive theatrical window has expired.
Says THR, “The sequel continues the story of a group of ragtag fighters, versed in the ways of martial arts, who defend our reality which is known in Earthrealm against the Outworld.”
Assassin Jade, a friend and mentor to Princess Kitana, first appeared in the video game Mortal Kombat II.
Also aboard Mortal Kombat 2 are Karl Urban (Dredd) as Johnny Cage, Josh Lawson, back as Kano, and Jessica McNamee, returning as Sonya Blade.
