‘Brotherhood of the Wife’ actress boards ‘Beetlejuice’ sequel

Monica Bellucci is getting with director Tim Burton for Beetlejuice 2, which begins filming in the UK this month.

According to THR, The Matrix Reloaded and Brotherhood of the Wife actress is said to be playing the title character’s – played by returning player Michael Keaton – in the sequel.

Warners announced Tuesday that the feature, also starring Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, and Jenna Ortega, will be released Sept. 6, 2024, taking over the date from Marvel’s Blade, which last week shut down preproduction due to the writers strike.

The latest script for the film, which boasts Brad Pitt as a producer, was penned by “Smallville” duo Al Gough and Miles Millar. They also created Burton’s “Wednesday” series, starring Ortega.
