Momoa ditching Aquaman but to play another DC character!?

After the 2023 sequel Aquaman and the Lost City

Warner Bros

While there’s reportedly no plans for his fellow Justice League co-stars to return to the DC Universe – and that includes Henry Cavill, whose future as Superman is again undecided – James Gunn and Peter Safran are reportedly looking to keep Aquaman‘s Jason Momoa on the studio payroll.

Per THR, Momoa is rumoured to be moving from the sea to the land though – with the aforesaid duo looking to end the actor’s tenure as Aquaman, a role he plays again in the 2023 sequel Aquaman and the Lost City, and have him take on the role of a different superhero. Who?

Lobo.

The character of Lobo, a foul-mouthed cigar-chomping intergalactic bounty hunter, has been mentioned in connection with Momoa.

Whether or not Momoa does play everybody’s favorite bastich, Lobo emerging as a rising character early on in the conversation may point to the kinds of characters the Gunn-Safran team may be focusing on. The character is an outsider, an anti-hero, and is keeping in line with Gunn’s specialty of taking the off-beat and quirky and flipping it into crowd-pleasing fare.

New DC Brass Gunn and Safran present their future plans to WB Discovery CEO David Zaslav next week.
