Big trade story hit Sunday. New Star Wars film in the works- yep, the long-rumored Lindelof project – with Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson scripting for Ms. Marvel alum Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy– who has been given J.J Abrams’ old keys to the director’s office.
The trade states that the film, likely due for release in 2025 (I’ve heard much later – and it mightn’t be the next to go in the Star Wars series), will be set after the events of Rise of Skywalker but may feature appearances from some of the characters from the Abrams-produced (Abrams will produce this one too) films.
I’m hearing that the plan is to include existing characters not seen in live-action before – Dave Filoni is involved, fill in the rest -and bring back Daisy Ridley’s Rey ‘Skywalker’. Ridley has kept in touch with Lucasfilm over the next couple of years, and a possible Disney+ series return has seemingly evolved into a new feature return. Good idea.
