News hit earlier today, via online scooper Grace Randolph, that a DCEU actor may be swapping camps and porting over to Marvel. Per the report, following Henry Cavill’s return to DC to reprise Superman, Marvel needed someone other than Henry Cavill to fill the duds of Wonder Man. Cavill, it seems, was the fave for that role.
ScreenGeek seem to have more on just how the thesp is that might have got the gig.
We’ve obtained a casting grid for Marvel’s Wonder Man that confirms three leads for the project – one of which is Simon Williams, a failed actor. According to the grid, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in talks for the role. The other two roles are for the female lead and Simon Williams’ manager.
As the site reiterates, “in talks” doesn’t mean it’s a done deal but it does suggest that things have progressed beyond an offer. Interestingly, Abdul-Mateen II will soon appear in the Aquaman sequel, over at the DCEU, reprising Black Mantra.
Wonder Man is set to be a small-screen outing for Disney+.
