the show will end just weeks shy of the release of WB’s bigscreen “The Flash” movie

CW

Rumors that The CW was looking to pink-slip “The Flash” after it’s upcoming ninth season has turned out to be true.

Deadline reported today that the show has been handed it’s walking papers, with the network commissioning a 13-episode final season of the Grant Gustin-starrer.

Responding to the show’s cancellation, “The Flash” executive producer/showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement : “Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor, and spectacle. And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race. So many amazing people have given their talents, time, and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. So, as we get ready to honor the show’s incredible legacy with our exciting final chapter, I want to say thank you to our phenomenal cast, writers, producers, and crew over the years who helped make The Flash such an unforgettable experience for audiences around the world.“

Interestingly enough, the show will end just weeks shy of the release of WB’s bigscreen “The Flash” movie – should it stick to its June 23, 2023 release date.
