Upon yesterday’s shocking announcement that Warner’s “Batgirl” has been abruptly cancelled, never to see the light of day, online scoopers suggest the decision may have a lot to do with the new brass’s decision to shut down HBO Max.
The streaming service, which debuted such films as “The Matrix Resurrections” and “Dune”, would be consequently folded into a new service.
UPDATE from what I’m hearing:
New mega streaming service will combine all #WBDiscovery content
won’t have #HBO in the name
but it won’t have #Discovery in the name either
as I already reported, #HBOMax scripted rolled into #HBO
CNN+ style bloodbath for HBOMax employees

As a consequence of the move, several films – like the recently axed “Batgirl” – and TV series would no longer be going ahead. There’s expected to be some huge announcements on tomorrow’s WB earnings call.
