Ernie Hudson-starring Ghostbusters sequel gets a release date!

The film’s codename is ‘Firehouse’

Ernie Hudson will reprise his role as Winston Zeddemore in a sequel to last year’s “Ghostbusters : Afterlife”, that film’s director and co-writer confirmed last month.

Today, we’ve a release date for the film : December 20, 2023.

Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan dropped the news of an “Afterlife” sequel in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, adding the film – shooting under the codename ‘Firehouse – will be set in the work abode of the original 1984 and 1989 films.

“At the end of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Ecto-1 is driving into Manhattan, returning to its home. And before anyone ever heard the title Afterlife, we called it Rust City. Which would not have made sense to anyone until they saw the movie. The code name for the next movie is ‘Firehouse.’

““We’re writing as quickly as we can. We had the story before we finished Afterlife. And we have been crafting this with as much care as it took to build Afterlife into a worthy sequel.”

A “Ghostbusters” animated series, set up at Netflix, and animated film is also in the works.
