Paramount’s latest addition to “Star Trek” lore is the highly-anticipated “Star Trek : Strange New Worlds”, premiering today on Paramount+.
The series, greenlit after those nielsen’s popped for Anson Moutn’s Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn’s Number One, and Ethan Peck’s Spock on “Star Trek : Discovery”, serves as a prequel.
Here’s a look :
While we can’t comment (we sadly haven’t been able to secure episodes for preview), the online consensus seems to be that “Strange New Worlds” is a return to the classic “Trek” stories of yesteryear.
Here’s a look at just some of the comments skirting about the twittersphere today :
Star Trek Strange New Worlds is absolutely fucking fantastic. Top to bottom the best Start to a Trek show in years. @ansonmount proves he was born to play Pike. Cast is pitch perfect. It’s thrilling, funny and also hopeful. It nails what it means to be Star Trek.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has the best first episode of any Trek series, and it is NOT close.

It’s not necessarily a perfect episode of TV, but the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a pitch perfect piece of Star Trek storytelling. A diplomatic, character based view of a future based on our present. It’s really beautiful, wonderful stuff. pic.twitter.com/XvBrtiF4jn

Dude. I really liked the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It felt like watching peak 90s and early 2000s Star Trek episodes on UPN.

Happy #StrangeNewWorlds day, that whiz-bang Captain Pike show that innovates by going back to what worked best about pre-Paramount+ Trek: episodic adventures, deep character work, and a genuine sense of joy and exploration. For @TheCompanionApp: https://t.co/alNcCgNUkU

I saw the first episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. I personally found it unexpectedly good.
The gut punch it gave me in the last quarter was unexpected, but powerful. You’ll know the scene when you see it. pic.twitter.com/RYhWi2nT5s

One of my favorite things about the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is that it constantly directly references Star Trek Discovery. Y’all can’t like this show and ignore that Disco exists.

As lifelong #StarTrek fan, it gives me great joy that “STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS” is the REAL DEAL! A RETURN TO FORM for the optimism, fun & new adventure every week that I always loved! It’s the TREK we’ve been waiting for & the BEST new TREK series since TNG! SEE IT 5/6! pic.twitter.com/lb3WX5Uoxk

Alright so 1st episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds seems extremely promising and very Trek like. Looks to be episodic it seems.
This new show looks okay. Maybe it’ll be good. I don’t know how they managed to produce this and Star Trek Picard with similar teams pic.twitter.com/srDqrSwlmG
