Shortly after the success of the first “Aquaman” film, director James Wan announced he’d direct a horror spin-off of the superhero jaunt called “The Trench”.

The “Conjuring” director said the film was based on the gigantic sea creatures in the Warner Bros blockbuster.

The spin-off is now off the cards but Wan is now revealing exactly what the film was – and seems it wasn’t a straight-up ‘Trench’ movie as first reported.

“I’ll let you in on a secret, the canceled Trench spin-off movie was going to be a secret Black Manta movie”, Wan said on Instagram.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II would’ve reprised his role as the comic book villain in the film.
