For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighbourhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
While still unconfirmed, solid internet rebels declare the flick not only unites the three big-screen Spideys – Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire – but features appearances from PP love interests, Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone) and Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Lizard (Paul Giamatti), and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). One of whom was confirmed in that trailer.
The flick, directed by series staple Jon Watts, is set within the multiverse so all those returning characters and crossovers would make sense. And if that’s the case, then I’d say we can expect even a few more surprises too -including, we hear, the reappearance of a certain flaxen-haired journalist.
