Dracula spin-off in the works from Chris McKay

Chris McKay (“The Tomorrow War”) will direct a film based on Dracula’s intimidating assist, Renfield.

Universal’s “Renfield”, which at one stage was set to be directed by “Rocketman” helmer Dexter Fletcher, is based on a story by “Walking Dead” alum Robert Kirkman.

McKay, Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst will also be producers on the project, which currently boasts a script by Ryan Ridley.

Universal’s last crack at the classic movie monsters, “The Invisible Man” grossed over $143 million at the global box office.
